We’ve got a great (and fun) fund-raiser coming up and there are still some spaces available. “Art from the Heart” will raise funds for this summer’s third trip to Ghana, where a team of nearly 20 volunteers will rehabilitate a school and a clinic.
Art from the Heart will include items by local artists, available for purchase, as well as music, appetizers, desserts and a bourbon tasting. It’s going to be terrific.
It’s set for Hehman Hall in Lexington’s Christ the King Cathedral, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. Feb. 17. Tickets are only $25 each.
To make your reservation, contact Brian Smith at bsmith@versatechautomation or phone/text to 859-327-7015.
Thanks to the hundreds of people who joined us for our annual Halloween-themed family event – our primary fund-raiser for the year. We had a great time and raised money to help us help others in the coming year. Here are a few photos.

ABLE Co-Founder and first President Dr. Ed Todd died after a lengthy battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
It’s hard to adequately explain what Ed Todd has meant to ABLE. As one of the founders, he set the direction for the organization and gathered many dedicated and outstanding volunteers to do this wonderful work domestically and in locations around the world.
In addition, though, in the early years he was the central focus for everything. He established the office (in space he essentially donated), handled all of the logistics for mission trips, dealt with all of administrative tasks,…. He devoted countless hours to getting ABLE established and efficient.
He continued that work and served as President until ALS made it physically impossible for him to carry on. Even when he couldn’t do that work, he continued to make valuable contributions as a Board Member Emeritus – helping guide the Board and providing valuable ideas and assistance via emails and conversations. His commitment to ABLE never wavered, regardless of his physical condition.
The Todd family has encouraged anyone who would like to make a memorial donation to honor Ed’s life and legacy to do so through the ABLE Endowment Fund, established by Ed and Marilyn Todd. All donations received through May 2016 will be allocated to this fund. After that date, donations should be specified for the Endowment Fund.

One of ABLE, Inc.’s four founding fathers and its first president has been given a diagnosed of ALS
(“Lou Gehrig’s Disease”). As of August 27, 2014, the ice bucket challenge has raised $94.3 million
for the ALS Association since July 29,, 2014. Drs. Dennis Kelly and Jamie Jacobs decided it was
appropriate to initiate the ice bucket challenge for ABLE, Inc. (Assisting Better Living Everywhere, Inc.)
in honor of our friend cited above as a means of garnering donations for this most worthy nonprofit
organization. So the ABLE board of directors and all the friends of our beloved friend have been
challenged to donate to ABLE, Inc.
